So dear Mr. Kim Hakkyu has decided to pop into a player's thread to clear up some misconceptions that the playerbase has been having with the game.
"The trade restriction in TOS was designed to solve the bot and RMT problems. I do recognize that it might cause inconveniences towards the players as well. If, like you have said, the restrictions were not there due to the fact that the bots and RMT are inevitable and unavoidable, would that have improved the game overall? Unless we compare two situations side-by-side, I cannot say for certain. However, I would like you to understand that we have been working on reducing restrictions through continuous patches."If the botters are still benefiting from the game with the restrictions in place, w… Read more >
First IMC Games tried to implement a 3-month early access period so they would be able to counteract server load issues a little at a time before they officially launch Tree of Savior. Then people cried about it so IMC let them vote on shortening the early access period to 1 month instead. And now just a few days into the new 1-month early access period, we've got people wanting to shut down the English servers.
Good grief, the TOS forums are saltier than the Dead Sea. :U So much for the pay wall stemming the tsunami of players wanting to play. IMC underestimated how much people were willing to throw money at them. However, it is rather hard to make sense of all the mixed messages going on in the TOS forums.
By the way, hello Mr. Kim.Read more >
I'm guessing a lot of people following Tree of Savior have learned by now that the game has officially launched in Korea. What they might not know is that the game was launched just 13 DAYS after the server started its open beta testing. Yes, you heard right, the game launched before all the bugs and glitches found in OBT are addressed. Nexon is advertising a buggy game as a commercially-ready product.
Guess Nexon's reputation isn't just from their overseas branch after all.
With the English version of the game being hosted on Steam, there's a bit of hope for Tree of Savior to be run differently from the developer's version, but it remains to be seen how the game will be managed by IMC through Steam. Players of IMC Games's other MMORPG Gran…Read more >
When the official Tree of Savior English site was launched, IMC Games decided to go with an open source forum software known as Discourse. At first, it was a jarring transition from traditional forum software such as phpBB and Invision Power Board (IPB) where everything is organized and laid out in easy-to-find sections and subsections. Discourse, instead, throws organization out the window in favor of a category system in which threads are sorted into categories and the layout of the forums changes in order of those with most recent posts and threads. So a category that you're used to seeing on the bottom of the forums can instantly jump to the top with a new post or thread made into it.
Of course, there is an option to have Discourse orga…Read more >
When it comes to MMORPGs, I'm usually content with letting others do the QA while I wait patiently for the final launch. Not to mention, with my luck, being selected for a closed beta test of a MMORPG is simply not possible. So by all means, the ToS CBT should be nothing but another beta test I would usually ignore.
Well, I guess the stars aligned and some mystical thingamabobber happened or something, 'cause I've decided to participate in the CBT1 of ToS's English server. Since I seem to have been chosen to participate in the beta.Read more >
Uh... Not sure what happened, but somehow within the course of the last week or so, the Tree of Savior Wiki attracted quite a number of visitors.Read more >
Sometime in October, Gravity Interactive decided to censor both Tree of Savior and the acronym TOS in the WarpPortal forums. "Tree of Savior" will automatically become "Ragnarok Online" when typed into a forum post and "TOS" will automatically become "Ragnarok Online 2" when typed into a post. The censorship also extends to people's profile statuses and biographies and likely in signatures as well.
While I understand the need to censor out games that have nothing to do with games published by Gravity Interactive, you would think they would've seen a problem with censoring the acronym "TOS" as well. "TOS" not only refers to Tree of Savior, but also Terms of Service as well as skills and items from other games. So people posting about the Ter…Read more >
